Focus Area: Child behavior problems

​Overview: The Child Behavior Rating Scale (CBRS) is a 26-item measure about a child's behavior problems. It is intended to be completed by the parent or teacher of a child. It measures the parent/teacher's perceptions of the child's social, emotional, and self-regulation skills as presented in their behaviors. All of the questions are worded as "negative" symptoms so a higher score (Very Much) means that there are more behavioral problems.

Scoring and interpretation: The CBRS is scored on a 4-point Likert scale with the answer options of Not at all (0), A little (1), Pretty much (2), Very much (3). All of the questions are negative symptoms so higher point answers are associated with more behavioral problems. Total scores range from 0 to 78. Higher total scores are associated with more behavioral problems. There are no known interpretations or cutoffs outside of that.
