Overview: The DBT Ways of Coping Checklist (DBT-WCCL) is a comprehensive measure of skills acquisition and healthy/dysfunctional coping in the context of Dialectic Behavior Therapy.

Standardized cadence: Monthly 

Estimated completion time: Four to seven minutes

Supported subscales: DBT skills subscale (DSS), dysfunctional coping subscale (DCS) 

Age range: Variable 

Scoring and interpretation: The total score can range from 0 to 40, with higher scores indicating greater severity of social anxiety disorder (social phobia). This measure does not identify a cutoff score. 

Reliability/Validity: Among a sample of 332 participants, Cronbach’s alpha ranged from 0.87 to 0.96. The DSS subscale successfully discriminated patients who received skills training during 4 months of treatment from patients who did not.

Additional information: Due to the highly specific nature of the measure items, the DBT-WCCL is recommended for use only in the context of Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and should not be used as a general assessment of coping skills.
