Brief Description

The Friedman Affect Scale - Positive (FAS-P) measures 15 positive affects, or feelings, as part of the Friedman Affect Scale - Short Form (FAS - Short Form). It comprises 5 of the 10 subscales on the FAS - Short Form (jovial, self-assurance, attention, peace, and love). Respondents rate the extent to which they have felt the symptoms listed during the past week (e.g., “Enthusiastic”) on a scale from “Very Slightly” to “Extremely.”

Summary of Scoring and Interpretations

The FAS-P contains 15 questions scored on a 5-point Likert scale with values from 0 (“Very Slightly”) to 4 (“Extremely”). A total score is calculated by summing the item responses and ranges from 0 to 60; higher scores are associated with higher levels of positive affect.
