What are Interventions?

Interventions is our new clinical decision support experience! In short, Interventions help guide clinicians in responding to trends in Client data with the use of in-session Activities (a series of questions, prompts, or shared conversations conducted in-session with the Client) and Homework (related Check-ins for the Client to complete in-between sessions.)

Each Intervention is made up of three parts; a Summary, an Activity, and Client Homework.

Let's dive deeper into each part! 🔍

  1. Summary: This is the first page a Staff Member sees when opening an Intervention is a Summary and contains details, instructions, and special considerations regarding the Intervention.

After an Intervention Activity has been completed, the Summary page will also contain links to view and save the results.

The Summary contains the following details:

    • Type: The overall category of intervention

      • Skill Development: Teaching clients new skills

      • Case Management: Managing client symptoms and treatment plans

      • Psychoeducation: Educating clients about their own experiences

    • Treatment Modality: The method of treatment used in this Intervention Options include:

      • DBT: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

      • CBT: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

      • ACT: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

      • EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

      • MBCT: Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy

      • Any: For interventions that can be used across any modality

    • Population: Who the Intervention is intended for

    • Trigger: What prompts the Intervention

    • Activity Overview: Information and background on the Intervention's Activity

    • Activity Instructions: Instructions on how to conduct the Activity with your Client.

    • Special Considerations: Relevant domain-specific considerations

    • Documentation Snippet: A piece of text designed to streamline documentation between Blueprint and an EHR! This text can be copied and pasted into an EHR progress note for the session in which the Staff Member did Intervention work with their Client.

  2. Activity: The actual exercise to be conducted by the Staff Member with the Client in session, made up of a series of questions.

  3. Homework: Recommended Check-ins to assign to the Client based on the Intervention's targeted clinical domain.

How to conduct an Intervention with a Client In-session

  1. Navigate to the Client's profile and click the Interventions tab

💡 If the Client is currently flagged as High-Risk, some Interventions will also be shown as cards on the Summary tab for convenience.

  2. Based on the needs of the Client, choose which Intervention you'd like to conduct and click View (if starting from the Client's Summary tab, simply click on the Intervention card), which will open the Summary for this Intervention.

  3. After reviewing the Summary, click the blue Start Activity button at the bottom of the page.

  4. Complete all sections of the Activity collaboratively with your Client in session either in-person, over the phone, or through video conference. Record the Client's responses as you make your way through the Activity.

  5. Click the blue Submit button at the bottom of the page to complete.

💡 If you're unable to finish the entire Activity, progress can be saved and it can be completed at a later time. 🎉 Just click the blue X in the upper-right, then click Save Progress! Pick up where you left off any time, just head to the Interventions tab on the client's profile and it should be in the In Progress section.

  6. Check the box to assign the recommended Check-ins as Homework, then click Submit.

  7. That's it! 🎉 You can now close the Intervention window. To access the completed Intervention at any time, just head to the Interventions tab on the client's profile and it should be in the Completed section.

💡 If you'd like to send the Activity results to your Client, download them as a PDF to easily attach to an email or your EHR's Client messaging system!

FAQ

  1. Q: Can I edit an Intervention Activity once it's been completed?

A: No, but you can complete the Intervention again with updated answers. All results, including past results, can be viewed from the client's Interventions tab in the Completed section.

  2. Q: What's the difference between an Intervention Activity and a regular Assessment?

A: An Intervention Activity is designed to be completed live during a session, either through the therapist guiding their conversation with the client via prompts, or by screen-sharing the Activity screen with the client and collaboratively filling out the prompts. On the other hand, an Assessment is a standardized self-report measure that clients complete on their own time with the specific purpose of measuring one or many constructs of interest.

  3. Q: How do clients complete the Homework that was assigned to them at the end of an Intervention?

A: Clients can complete their Homework just as they would any other assigned Check-in, right within the Check-in section of the Blueprint app or client website (client.blueprint-health.com)

  4. Q: How do I make changes to the Homework I assigned to my client during an Intervention?

A: You can assign/unassign Check-ins (including the ones recommended as Homework as part of an Intervention) anytime from the Symptom Tracker or Worksheet tabs on the Client's profile.

  5. Q: Can my Client see the results of an Intervention after we've completed it?

A: Client's won't see Intervention responses. To share a copy of the responses, you can download it as a PDF from their Interventions tab, then print or email it to your client.
