This article is a quick and simple glance at the scoring logic for the BPDS for Adolescents (13- 17 years of age).

Scoring

Below we have a list of all the Domestic Domains the BPDS screens for, their Cutoff, the Assessment that would be assigned if the Cutoff is met, and the exact questions that are presented to the Client.

Somatic Symptoms

- Been bothered by stomachaches, headaches, or other aches and pains?

- Worried about your health or about getting sick?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Sleep Problems

- Been bothered by not being able to fall asleep or stay asleep, or by waking up too early?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Inattention

- Been bothered by not being able to pay attention when you were in class or doing homework or reading a book or playing a game?

1 - Any question with a response equal or greater than Rare, less than a day or two.

Depression

- Had less fun doing things than you used to?

- Felt sad or depressed for several hours?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Anger/Irritability

- Felt more irritated or easily annoyed than usual?

- Felt angry or lost your temper?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Mania

- Started lots more projects than usual or done more risky things than usual?

- Slept less than usual but still had a lot of energy?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Anxiety

- Felt nervous, anxious, or scared?

- Not been able to stop worrying?

- Not been able to do things you wanted to or should have done, because they made you feel nervous?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Psychosis

- Heard voices—when there was no one there—speaking about you or telling you what to do or saying bad things to you?


- Had visions when you were completely awake—that is, seen something or someone that no one else could see?

1 - Any question with a response equal or greater than Rare, less than a day or two.

Repetitive Thoughts/Behavior

- Had thoughts that kept coming into your mind that you would do something bad or that something bad would happen to you or to someone else?

- Felt the need to check on certain things over and over again, like whether a door was locked or whether the stove was turned off?

- Worried a lot about things you touched being dirty or having germs or being poisoned?

- Felt you had to do things in a certain way, like counting or saying special things, to keep something bad from happening?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Substance Use

- Had an alcoholic beverage (beer, wine, liquor, etc.)?

- Smoked a cigarette, a cigar, or pipe, or used snuff or chewing tobacco?

- Used drugs like marijuana, cocaine or crack, club drugs (like Ecstasy), hallucinogens (like LSD), heroin, inhalants or solvents (like glue), or methamphetamine (like speed)?

- Used any medicine without a doctor’s prescription to get high or change the way you feel (e.g., painkillers [like Vicodin], stimulants [like Ritalin or Adderall], sedatives or tranquilizers [like sleeping pills or Valium], or steroids)?

1 - Any question with a response equal or greater than Rare, less than a day or two.

Trauma

- Had an experience that caused you to believe you would be injured or killed?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Eating Pathology

- Judged yourself as a person based on your body weight or shape?

2 - Any question with a response equal to or greater than Several Days.

Other

- All Questions

For Clients who do not screen positive for specific mental health conditions or constructs, Blueprint assigns the WEMWBS to measure non-specific outcomes related to overall wellbeing.
